Prawns or Shrimp? I hail from England and we call them Prawns, but in Canada they are called Shrimps – they are both the same!
I found some fantastic fresh prawns at the Superstore the other day.
First the skins had to be peeled and de-tailed (although I do prefer them with the tail on), de-veined and I also like to wash mine in cold water.
I then marinated these with ready-made Chicken Tikka spice mix, a couple of tablespoons of lemon juice, a tbsp of ginger paste and salt. – onto metal skewers almost straight away as I didn’t want the lemon juice and spices to cook the prawns before my grill does!
The grill had been patiently waiting for the prawns whilst I was putting them onto skewers.
Cook them on both sides for about 3-4 minutes each for this result.
Sprinkle some Chaat masala and freshly squeezed lemon juice before serving.
I served mine with an Indian spiced Salad – tomato wedges, finely chopped shallot, fresh cilantro, cumin powder, lemon juice and Chaat masala.
A delicious light lunch made without using oil, its gluten free, low carb and ever so satisfying with a nice spicy kick.
