Beer marinated Orange Pork

I had picked up a packet of Pork Loin on a whim yesterday and since everyone was at home today,  it was the perfect opportunity to have it for our lunch. I hadn’t marinated the pork in advance, and this was a last minute recipe concoction, as always!

Beer marinated Orange Pork
2 tbsp Spiced Orange Marmalade
1 tbsp dried basil leaves
Salt and Black pepper to taste
1/2 bottle of strong German Beer (its what I had in the fridge!)
4 drops Sriracha Sauce (don’t ask!) – adjust to taste/ optional
1 tbsp oil

Simple technique – Heat the oil in a pan, add the Pork and it should sizzle straightaway. Pour in the beer and stir in the orange marmalade. Turn the pork over a couple of minutes later. In the meantime, heat a skillet on the other side. Remove the pork out of the gravy and onto the hot skillet to brown on both sides. It should caramelise brown pretty quickly. Remove and let it rest in  a plate (as shown) whilst you prepare the sides.

I had 2 boiled potatoes handy, so I cubed them and added them the gravy sauce for a couple of minutes. Then I removed them and browned them on the skillet after the pork.

For the sauce, I stirred in 2 tbsp of plain flour into the gravy sauce until I had the required consistency. Stir in the Sriracha sauce at this point, strain the sauce and pour on top of the pork to serve.

Simple, easy and delicious !
